A Humble Thank You

Giving Credit Where It Is Due

Maggie There have been many people who have helped me while restoring Maggie to service. Some are friends, some I have met in person, but many are people I only know through the internet. Such is part of the wonder of these old British trucks. It has been said that it takes a special individual to live with a Series Rover. I believe that. I have experienced the generosity and comaraderie that is incomparable to any other type of auto enthusiast. Gentlemen, and ladies, you are the best.

I feel a need to thank each of you. There was several times I could have easily tossed in the towel, but the next thing I knew, parts were being pulled and sent my way. I have to give credit where it is due, and without your assistance, Maggie's restoration would not have happened. So, in no particular order, but only by recollection.............

ToddTodd Todd Dixon. He may drive a Jeep CJ2A, but he does it with style. He was the man with the trailer when I found Maggie. Todd has turned almost as many nuts on Maggie as I have. He is the unknown fellow in a lot of the pictures. Todd is the friend willing to come wrench after a hard day's mechanicking. It's one thing when it's your hobby. When it's your job and you help your friends in your time off, well that kind of generosity hits a new level. Todd, I am proud to be associated with you. Even when you are stuck......hehe.

Art Art Bitterman. Art, your Bulletin Board is no less than the best on the net. By keeping the gurus together during the mass exodus from you know where, you have singlehandedly kept a resource viable for us all.

David Gage of The Thatched Roof Garage. There are some favors people do that you don't want to mention. Their generosity so exceeds the norm that you worry that others may take advantage of them. David is that type of fellow. He, and the TR Garage are what this Land Rover gestalt is all about. If you have not sent David any business, then please do so. You will not be sorry!

George Laird and Rovers Down South. George runs another independent parts business, almost in my back yard. George got into the business to help Roverphiles, and is now THE source for Fairey overdrives. He is another person whose generosity blew me away. Again, I don't want to get into specifics, but George and Rovers Down South is a class act. You can't go wrong, unless you don't call him!

Ash Smith of New Zealand. A couple of NLA parts that I would have done without, rather than pay extortion to obtain, were sent to me by Ash. I'm still waiting for the opportunity to repay Ash.

Jack Hayes of Nantucket. Same thing, NLA parts that I would have done without. Jack pulled the parts from a derelict and sent them on their way. Jack is another person to whom I remain in debt.

Ron Brown. Several of the parts that were vital but prohibitively expensive were supplied by Ron. Just from one enthusiast to another, Ron, I thank you.

Last I had better thank my wife. Colleen, you are the best thing to ever happen to me. Thank you for the many nights when you went to bed alone while the lights were burning in the garage. Your love is the inspiration for all aspects of my life. There is nothing more eloquent that I can say than I love you.
