Reminders of a World Traveled
My wife and I are voracious collectors of authentic African art. Before we met, we had both traveled extensively. Kenya, South Africa, The Ivory Coast. Australia, Thailand, The Philipines, Japan. Singapore, Korea, Bali and Papua New Guinea. These are only a few of the places we have seen. We hope to go back to Africa someday, and perhaps retire there.
Our favorite thing to collect are masks from these regions. They take up wall space only. However, we have also indulged in other forms of African art.
Some of our artifacts we brought back with us, others, we have found in the most unusual places.
I recall when I was in Perth, Australia. Other folks were buying up opal by the jarfull. I went out and bought carved lizards covered with pyroglyphics.
